Morning Coffee- 2.18.26

Laptop with spreadsheets and a latte on a wooden table by a rainy window.

Good morning! Tax season is in full swing, so these posts will probably be short. Just journaling while I have my morning coffee before logging on for the morning.

My daughter (she just turned 3) started day care / preschool about a few months ago and seems to have been sick / gotten everyone in the house sick twice now, so it’s been a constant cycle of coughs, sneezes, fevers, and misery around here. I think we’re finally on the tail end of the most recent round so I’m looking forward to everyone finally feeling 100%!

Each tax season I feel like I find a new hobby or vice that keeps me distracted as the days pass toward 4/15, and this year I’ve discovered the dangers of Shopgoodwill.com where there are auctions for all sorts of items that are donated to Goodwills across the country. I have a weak spot for “retro” tech, and have ended up the proud owner of useless junk such as palm pilots (including one still sealed), “ancient” (2009-2015) MacBooks I landed for about $30 each, and an old rotary phone to decorate our guest room. This was a dangerous find for someone who loves nostalgia, and already has boxes of old tech my wife wants me to get rid of.

Wooden crate filled with vintage electronics like an NES console, Polaroid camera, and old phones.
